Our Approach to ESG

People. Communities. Responsible Growth.

Environment

Through sustainable business practices, we aim to minimise our environmental impact.

  • Minimise any unnecessary travel and energy use across our sites

  • Promote digital learning through our e-learning platform, and, where possible, remote collaboration

  • Recycling and waste reduction initiatives are implemented across our sites

  • Sustainable practices are built into the relevant training programmes to encourage learners and employers to adopt sustainable practices

Social

Our people and our communities are at the heart of what we do.

Our People:

  • Supporting staff well-being through Corporate Personal Wellbeing Ltd, offering physical, mental health, and occupational support

  • Investing in continuous professional development and safe, supportive workplaces

  • Creating an inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone is valued and supported

  • Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of our work

Our Learners and Employers:

  • Ensuring our training and recruitment practices are accessible to everyone, regardless of background or circumstance

  • Providing a supportive and enriching learning experience that prioritises learner well-being, progress, and achievement

  • Providing an extensive range of social action activities that go well beyond the requirements of the teaching curriculum ensures our learners engage with their local communities, understand some of the local issues they face, and utilise their newly developed skills to give something back

  • Equipping learners with the skills and confidence to succeed in sustainable careers

  • Promoting learner feedback, so our learners help shape our programmes

  • Working in partnership with employers to deliver industry-led training that supports regional and national skills priorities

  • Maintaining transparent, compliant relationships with employers

Our Communities:

  • Sponsoring local teams like Darlington FC Under-14s and supporting charities such as Quinn’s Retreat, providing care for those affected by suicide

  • Raising funds through participation in events, including the Great North Run, charity football matches, and our annual awards evening

  • Engaging with schools and job fairs to inspire the next generation of apprentices and professionals
