This apprenticeship provides practitioners with the ability to work as a senior member of an operational team to resolve problems - preventing re-occurrence, engaging others in issues affecting them and to support the improvement of performance.
Course Overview
The Level 4 Improvement Practitioner apprenticeship equips learners with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to lead and deliver effective improvement initiatives within organisations.
This programme focuses on creating a culture of continuous improvement, enabling apprentices to identify opportunities, analyse processes, and implement evidence-based solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and performance.
Learners will develop expertise in process mapping, problem-solving techniques, and performance measurement, while gaining practical experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
Emphasis is on using data to drive decisions for facilitating sustainable change and embedding best practices across teams and functions.
By the end of the apprenticeship, participants will be confident in initiating and supporting improvement projects, contributing to organisational objectives, and demonstrating professional behaviours such as resilience, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Funding Options
Funding is available via the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Account System.
An employer contribution of 5% of the standard cost may be required depending on levy funds available and your business size.
End Point Assessment
The EPA consists of three distinct assessment methods:
- A multiple-choice exam to assess the knowledge elements of the standard
- A project report, presentation and questioning to holistically assess knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) in the standard
- A professional discussion underpinned by a log, to holistically assess KSBs across the standard
