This apprenticeship is a hands-on training programme that equips new and existing technicians with the skills to produce high-precision components, operate advanced machinery, and work to exacting engineering standards required for such roles.

Course Overview

The Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship equips learners with advanced skills and knowledge to operate, set up, and maintain precision machining equipment in modern manufacturing environments. 


This programme combines practical, hands-on experience with theoretical understanding, enabling apprentices to produce high-quality components to exact specifications. 


Learners will develop expertise in using CNC and manual machines, interpreting technical drawings, and applying advanced measurement and inspection techniques to ensure accuracy and efficiency. 


The course also focuses on problem-solving, health and safety compliance, and effective communication within a manufacturing team. 


Apprentices gain experience in selecting appropriate materials, tooling, and processes, preparing them for roles that require both technical competence and decision-making skills. 


On completion, apprentices will be capable of working independently or collaboratively to meet production targets, contribute to process improvements, and support continuous innovation within the machining and engineering sector, providing a solid foundation for career progression.

Course Price

Fully funded or co-funded at £1350

Funding Options

Funding is available via the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Account System.

An employer contribution of 5% of the standard cost may be required depending on levy funds available and your business size.

End Point Assessment

The EPA consists of 2 assessment methods:

- Assessment method 1 - practical demonstration with questions:

- Assessment method 2 - interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

- Assessment method 3 - knowledge test
