Course Information

This apprenticeship develops both new and skilled technicians to allow them to be capable of maintaining and improving engineering systems within their chosen field, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Course Overview

The Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician – Single Discipline Apprenticeship equips learners with the advanced skills and knowledge required to maintain, inspect, and repair complex engineering systems within a chosen discipline, such as mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering. 


This programme blends practical hands-on experience with theoretical understanding, ensuring apprentices develop proficiency in fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and compliance with industry safety standards. 


Participants will gain expertise in interpreting technical drawings, using precision tools, and applying problem-solving techniques to real-world engineering challenges. 


Throughout the apprenticeship, learners will engage with digital systems, maintenance planning, and reliability improvement strategies, preparing them for immediate contribution in industrial settings. 


On completion, apprentices will be capable of maintaining high-performance equipment, supporting operational efficiency, and adhering to best practices in engineering maintenance. 


This apprenticeship creates both technical competence and professional development, offering a pathway to higher-level qualifications and long-term career progression within the engineering sector.

Course Price

Fully funded or co-funded at £1350

Funding Options

Funding is available via the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Account System.

An employer contribution of 5% of the standard cost may be required depending on levy funds available and your business size.

End Point Assessment

The EPA consists of 3 assessment methods:

- Assessment method 1 - observation with questions

- Assessment method 2 - interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

- Assessment method 3 - multiple-choice test
