This apprenticeship provides new and existing technicians with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to maintain and improve complex engineering systems across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Course Overview

The Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician – Dual Discipline Apprenticeship equips learners with advanced skills in both mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance, preparing them for a dynamic career in modern industrial environments. 


This dual-discipline programme develops practical expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex machinery, systems, and equipment, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. 


Learners gain hands-on experience with fault-finding, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement practices, supported by theoretical knowledge in engineering principles, electrical systems, and mechanical processes. 


The apprenticeship also develops problem-solving, teamwork, and digital competency, reflecting the needs of today’s technologically advanced workplaces. 


By combining practical training with structured classroom learning, participants emerge as versatile, competent engineering maintenance technicians capable of supporting efficient, safe, and sustainable operations across a range of industries.

Course Price

Fully funded or co-funded at £1350

Funding Options

Funding is available via the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Account System.

An employer contribution of 5% of the standard cost may be required depending on levy funds available and your business size.

End Point Assessment

The EPA consists of 3 assessment methods:

- Assessment method 1 - observation with questions

- Assessment method 2 - interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

- Assessment method 3 - multiple-choice test
