Course Information
The overall aim of the apprenticeship is to train new and existing staff, providing them with the required skills to be able carry out general engineering and manufacturing tasks consistently using safe working practices.
Course Overview
The Level 2 Engineering and Manufacturing Foundation Apprenticeship provides learners with a solid introduction to the engineering and manufacturing sector, combining practical skills with essential theoretical knowledge.
This apprenticeship equips participants with the core competencies required for roles in mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing environments, including understanding engineering principles, interpreting technical drawings, and safely using hand and machine tools.
Learners will develop key workplace skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication, while gaining experience in quality control, health and safety, and basic production techniques.
The programme also introduces participants to industry-standard practices, materials, and processes, preparing them for further vocational training or entry-level positions in engineering and manufacturing.
Through a blend of on-the-job training and structured learning, apprentices will build a strong foundation for career progression, promoting confidence, competence, and a practical understanding of the demands and opportunities within the sector.

Funding Options
Funding is available via the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Account System.
An employer contribution of 5% of the standard cost may be required depending on levy funds available and your business size.
End Point Assessment
The EPA consists of 2 assessment methods:
- A knowledge test
- A practical assessment
