Course Information

This apprenticeship allows apprentices to develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a competent MST by the end of their apprenticeship programme.

Course Overview

The Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to work effectively in scientific laboratory environments. 


This programme covers essential laboratory techniques, scientific analysis, and quality control processes, preparing apprentices to contribute to research, development, and testing across a range of industries, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and manufacturing. 


Apprentices will develop proficiency in handling laboratory equipment, conducting experiments, recording and interpreting data, and adhering to health, safety, and regulatory standards. 


Emphasis is placed on problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication to ensure accurate and reliable results. 


The apprenticeship combines hands-on training with theoretical learning, enabling apprentices to apply scientific principles in real-world contexts across industry.

Course Price

Fully funded or co-funded at £1050

Funding Options

Funding is available via the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Account System.

An employer contribution of 5% of the standard cost may be required depending on levy funds available and your business size.

End Point Assessment

The EPA consists of 2 assessment methods:

- Assessment method 1: Knowledge test

- Assessment method 2: Observation with questioning

- Assessment method 3: Structured Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
